PITC (Power Information Technology Company)
Definition. PITC is the state-owned technology company that operates the shared billing and information systems used by Pakistan's distribution companies, including the portal at bill.pitc.com.pk from which duplicate bills are served.
Also called: bill.pitc.com.pk · Power Information Technology Company
Where you see it: In the URL of the official duplicate bill, and in the footer of PITC-generated bill PDFs.
One system, eleven companies
Rather than each DISCO running its own billing stack, PITC operates a common platform. That is why the duplicate bill pages for MEPCO, LESCO and QESCO look identical and behave identically.
It is also why a platform outage takes down bill retrieval nationwide rather than for one company, which is the usual explanation when a reference number that worked yesterday returns nothing today.
What PITC does not do
It does not read meters, set tariffs, resolve complaints or own the network. It renders what the DISCO's data says.
A wrong reading on a PITC-served bill is a DISCO matter. The portal is the messenger.
Related PITC services
The same organisation operates the electronic new connection portal used to apply for a connection and track the application, and the cross-subsidy registration portal.
Those are separate systems with separate logins from the bill lookup, even though they share a parent.
Frequently asked questions
Is a bill downloaded from PITC as valid as the printed one?
Yes. It is generated from the same record and carries the same figures. Banks and payment counters accept it, and it is the standard way to pay when the paper copy has not arrived.
The portal is down. Is my bill still due?
Yes — a portal outage does not move a due date. Payment channels that accept the reference number directly, such as mobile wallets and bank apps, generally keep working during a portal outage.
