Clothes dryer: units per month in Pakistan
Short answer. A 2,500 watt tumble dryer uses about 2.5 units for a one-hour load. Two loads a week is roughly 22 units a month; daily use through a humid monsoon is nearer 75. Per hour of operation it is among the most expensive appliances in the house, second only to a geyser element or an air conditioner.

Why it costs so much
Evaporating water takes a great deal of energy, and a dryer does it with brute-force resistive heat and then throws the warm, moist air away.
Pakistan's climate offers that energy free for most of the year. A line in April sun does in two hours what a dryer does in one, for nothing.
When it is genuinely justified
Monsoon weeks in Lahore or Karachi where nothing dries and mildew becomes a real problem. Winter in the northern districts where daylight is short and humidity is high. Households with no accessible outdoor drying space.
Outside those situations it is a convenience purchased at several units a load, and it is worth knowing that is what you are buying.
The spin-speed multiplier
Every litre of water the washing machine's spin removes is a litre the dryer does not have to evaporate. Going from a 600 rpm to a 1,200 rpm spin can cut dryer time by a third.
The spin costs a few extra watt-hours; the drying it saves costs hundreds. This is the highest-return adjustment in the laundry.
How to use less
- Spin at the highest speed the fabric allows before the load goes in.
- Clean the lint filter every single load — a blocked filter lengthens drying time substantially.
- Dry full loads, and dry similar fabrics together so nothing over-dries waiting for the rest.
- Line-dry to damp and finish in the dryer for softness rather than drying from wet.
